Planning for Christmas

This month Christmas has been a big focus.  Preparing a product range that could add the finishing touches to a Christmas table or make the perfect gift.  I am pleased to say the Christmas range is now live!

Sweetness & Light are partnering with Grace & Violet for a Christmas campaign, combining candles and flowers.  Because really, what goes better together??!

Laura, from Grace & Violet began planning and and one of the last things was to get some professional shots for our campaign.  We were lucky to meet and work with Jo Gray, local Hertfordshire photographer.  Jo joined us for a photo shoot for the Christmas collaboration.

I hadn’t worked with a professional photographer since my own wedding, so when Jo turned up for the shoot I wasn’t sure what to expect.  We set up the Christmas Dinner table adorned with flowers and candles.  We had a sick child and excitable Dog and Jo was a complete professional (as was Harry the Cockerpoo).

Jo started by understanding exactly what we were after, how we would be using the photos to ensure we got everything we needed.  She talked us through her plan and showed us some of the shots throughout the session so it was all very exciting!  We have ended up with a fabulous portfolio of photographs to showcase our Christmas product range.

Our campaign goes live this week as we join the masses of advertisers hoping to gleam interest amongst the Christmas shoppers.  We have fabulous products and fabulous photos we can only hope our audience love our products as much as we do!

My First Wedding Fair

This month has been a big month for Sweetness & Light.  Autumn scents launched, new black glass designed range and my very first Wedding Fair.

I met some fabulous brides at The Oakley Court fair.  It brought back memories of planning my own wedding.  I remember how exciting and overwhelming it was to meet so many suppliers and getting so much inspiration.  I could see that some of the lovely couples were quite overwhelmed by all of the information and some quite intense suppliers.

I set up my stall with three separate sections to inspire new ideas.

Table Name Candles

Using my own veil as a back drop with the the large size and Jumbo 3-wick candle to inspire Candles as the Table Names as part of an elegant decor scheme.

Wedding Favours

Mirrors and Flowers brought to life how our scented candles can be used as Wedding Favours and double as your Place Name Cards.

Thank You Gifts

With a striking piece of marble, the example of ‘Thank You’ candles were displayed to show what a lovely gift our candles could be for Bridesmaids, Mother of the Bride and the cast of helpers who made the big day happen.

I have my next Wedding Fair this weekend, at Sopwell House in St Albans.  I am going to have a few new additions to the collection including some coloured glass options that will be available for the 2018 brides.  It will be great to get some feedback on these.  If you are coming to the fair, stop by and say hello otherwise please check out the details of our Wedding range here.

What did your wedding smell like?

If you could bottle your wedding, what would it smell like?
Mine, I would say, roses and freshly cut grass. Because we got married on a hot summers day outside and I just remember the grass and I had the most amazing bouquet of roses and peonies.
In reality it would probably be Stilton and champagne and a touch of sweat. That is because we danced until the early hours, had a massive cheeseboard for supper and copious amounts of Louis Roderer champagne.
When A couple wants to have Sweetness & Light candles for their wedding I like to know the details about them and their wedding plans. The venue, time of year, the flowers, the decor. Where did they meet and where they are honeymooning can also help to pick the right scent.

All of these factors are key to finding the right candle scent to reflect their wedding. Traditional or modern. Fruity, floral or exotic and spicy.
I remember my wedding so fondly and actually while I joke about the scent of Stilton, I actually think most about the scents from our honeymoon. We travelled all over Italy so I remember the lemon scented shampoo in Amalfi, the delicious blood orange juice for breakfast in Rome and the freshly grated truffle on my pasta in Tuscany.

It was such a wonderful time and scents play such an important part in our memories.
